Srinagar, September 23

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed, Arun Kumar Choudhary on Sunday asked policemen to remain extra cautious and follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) during their duties.

Choudhary said this in his interaction with policemen during his visit to north Kashmir’s Kupwara and Baramulla districts. He also chaired ‘darbars’ for policemen at armed police headquarters in both these districts.

“Safety and security of the policemen is a prime concern for which they are required to remain extra alert while performing duties of different nature. During various law and order duties, there is a need to remain extra cautious and careful” he was quoted by a police spokesman as having said while addressing cops at a ‘police darbar.’ The J&K Police have lost 37 men this year, which is highest in the past 12 years. A majority of the cops were killed either at homes or at vulnerable places.

The ADGP said many schemes were already in place for welfare of the policemen and many were in the pipeline so as to ensure maximum benefits to policemen. — TNS
