Jammu: A religious organisation, Ladakh Anjuman Jamiyat Ullama Isna Ashriya, Kargil, has condemned the recent terrorist attack in Christchurch, New Zealand, in which 49 people were killed.



Jammu: A religious organisation, Ladakh Anjuman Jamiyat Ullama Isna Ashriya, Kargil, has condemned the recent terrorist attack in Christchurch, New Zealand, in which 49 people were killed. A protest rally was also taken out which passed through Madrasa Isna Asharia Chowk, Khomenie Chowk and Lal Chowk in Kargil town. Speaking on the occasion, Anjuman Jamiyat Ullama, Kargil, president Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi said, “Terrorism has no religion. The horrible act in New Zealand was filmed by terrorists and it shows the hatred towards human values.” He said terrorism was condemnable in all forms. Sheikh Nazir said Islam was against any kind of violence. TNS

Prof presents paper at NIT

Jammu: Prof Sanjay Mohan, faculty member at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, presented his paper in the first national conference on advances in mechanical engineering held at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), New Delhi, on March 16. The theme of the conference was ‘Latest advances in mechanical engineering’. Sanjay Mohan threw light on the role of fluorides as a solid lubricating material, especially calcium fluoride. TNS

Trayath locals demand degree college

Rajouri: Residents of the Trayath tehsil in Rajouri district’s Kalakot area have demanded a degree college. The nearest degree college is 80 km away and is located in Rajouri town. “A degree college at Trayath is the long-pending demand of the people of the area and the Governor's administration should consider it on priority,” said Ashok Kumar Sharma, former MLA from Kalakot. Locals alleged that their children were denied the right to higher education as the area lacked academic infrastructure. “Due to financial constraints, we cannot afford to send out children to study in colleges and universities at far away destinations. As a result, our children are suffering,” said Kewal Sharma, sarpanch, Trayath.” OC

Jammu: Class X student Devansh Bhalla of Delhi Public School, Jammu, brought laurels to the school by scoring 50 marks out of 60 in the National Mathematics Olympiad. He secured the 6th rank at the zonal level and 899th international rank in the National Mathematics Olympiad organised by the Science Olympiad Foundation on February 10.
