Record room of BDO office gutted in Doda

The record room the of Block Development Office (BDO), Ghat, in Doda district was gutted mysteriously on Wednesday. A panchyat ghar is also situated near the BDO office.

An eyewitness said the fire broke out at around 9.30 pm in the record room. The fire fighters allegedly reached the spot after half an hour.

Block Development Officer, Ghat, Idres Lone said, “We are left with only current year’s records that were in the new building and the old records have been completely destroyed in the fire. We have informed the police.”

A former BDO employee said, “The record room was in a poor condition. It had old records and did not even have any electricity connection.”

Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammed Shabir Malik said, “A short circuit may be the reason of fire, but we are still investigating the incident.”
