Sanitation drive in Vaishno Devi, Amarnath board areas

SRINAGAR: The nationwide fortnight-long cleanliness campaign “Swachhata Hi Seva” has been launched in areas falling under Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) and Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) as directed by the chairman of the boards, NN Vohra.

The nationwide fortnight-long cleanliness campaign “Swachhata Hi Seva” has been launched in areas falling under Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) and Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) as directed by the chairman of the boards, NN Vohra.

Hundreds of people helped in cleaning the Banganga, Sind and Lidder rivers. At a meeting chaired by the Governor today, he directed both CEOs to make plans for the construction of toilets in schools.

With regard to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, the drive covers the entire track from Darshani Deodi to Bhawan, besides all shrine board establishments in Jammu, Katra, enroute, in the Bhawan area as well as the Sanjichhat and Katra helipads. In the Amarnath board area, the drive was carried out at yatra camps and along both tracks. In the review meeting, it was reported that all plastic and other non-biodegradable wastes were collected from the tracks and along the hill slopes and brought down to Baltal and Nunwan where the waste was crushed in the shredding machines.
