Jalandhar, August 16

More than the farmers, it was the Akali workers who filled up the entire hall where Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Badal today launched the Kisan Sampada Scheme in the city.

Barring about six-seven farmers including potato king Jang Bahadur Sangha and a dozen odd members of various industry and traders’ associations, all others who attended the event at a city hotel were Akali-BJP leaders and workers. There was no representation either from the administration or the departments concerned at the event.

In their absence, Akali MLAs including Baldev Khaira, Ajit Singh Kohar and Gurpartap Wadala, ex-MLAs KD Bhandari, Sarabjit Makkar and district president of the BJP Ramesh Sharma and that of SAD Gurcharan Singh Channi occupied the stage of the Central government’s programme at the venue.
