DC exhorts differently-abled persons to avail benefit of NCSC

JALANDHAR: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma exhorted differently-abled persons to avail maximum benefits of various programmes being initiated by the National Career Service Centre for differently-abled (NCSC for DA) to prove themselves as equal and important part of the society.

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma exhorted differently-abled persons to avail maximum benefits of various programmes being initiated by the National Career Service Centre for differently-abled (NCSC for DA) to prove themselves as equal and important part of the society.

The Deputy Commissioner said the centre was established by the Government of India in Ludhiana, for the welfare, training, placement and rehabilitation services of persons with disability for the state of Punjab, Haryana, and UT Chandigarh.

He said the persons with disability (PWD) reporting to the centre, were interviewed, guided, counselled and motivated for wage paid employment, self employment, training and higher education to make them economically independent.

Sharma also said in continuation with the cause, the centre was going to start fresh batches of six-month training for persons with disability, for the academic year 2018-19.

The DC also said the centre would offer courses in commercial, metal, hosiery, cutting and tailoring and radio and TV trade with limited hostel facility (only boys/lodging) and stipend as per norm.

He said candidates interested in courses could approach the centre for free application form by writing a request letter or personally. Sharma said any organisation working for PWDs/special school/NGOs could also approach for bulk admissions.

The DC said the training was totally free of cost and subject to necessary regulatory approval where as applicable.

Sharma said candidates interested in the regard and having Indian citizenship with age group of 15-50 years with 40 per cent or more disability could obtain and submit free of cost application form before March 23rd with a set of supporting documents such as disability certificate, Aadhaar card, bank passbook, caste certificate, certificate for qualification and passport size photos (2).
