Jalandhar, April 5

A day after former PPCC chief and former Jalandhar MP Mohinder Singh Kaypee showed his annoyance against the Congress for not giving him the ticket to contest from the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, sitting MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh who has been again picked by the party today went to his place to pacify him. Kaypee, however, did not give him any assurance in his support.

Chaudhary went to Kaypee’s place at 7:30 pm along with his son Vikramjit Chaudhary, former MLA Kanwaljit Lally and Senior Deputy Mayor Surinder Kaur.

“It was a courtesy call to my old friend to join my campaign. We worked together as MLAs and ministers. His father Darshan Singh Kaypee and my father Master Gurbanta Singh were also closely associated. His elder brother and I were classmates at DAV College. I told him that we have had a long association and he must support me as a younger brother,” the Jalandhar MP said.

Chaudhary, who stayed at the place of his predecessor for half an hour, said Kaypee told him that he would consider his request.

Kaypee, however, maintained that he was so far keeping all his options open. “My elder brother would be returning

from England and my daughter is coming from the United States day after. I will discuss the entire matter with them and decide the future course”, he said.

Kaypee, however, claims that he was being pursued by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as well as those from the Punjab Democratic Alliance to join them.
