Mini fire extinguisher centre of attraction at science exhibition

Pushpa Gujral Science City today organised INNO-Tech 2017 at Science City, Kapurthala. Students from across the state exhibited their talent through various projects related to science and technology on the occasion.

Director Science City, Dr Rajesh Grover said various activities organised in connection with the annual day event ‘Inno Tech-2018’ would continue for two days. These activities would provide a platform to the students to showcase their creativity and futuristic thoughts.

“Through this exhibition, students have got a chance to work on the practical aspects of the concepts they have learnt only in their classrooms. Development in any phase is always linked with technology and technology happens when there is advancement in science. The dream of India is to become a developed nation by 2020 which would only be achieved if innovation is given its due,” he added.

He also emphasised the need of youngsters to come forward with their unique ideas in order to give to the world more convenient technologies which could help nation grow more technologically stronger.

Four students of Maher Chand Polytechnic College, Jalandhar presented a model on mini fire extinguisher where in all the facilities that a fire extinguisher offers was made available on a two wheeler in order to reach to small localities or roads where a big fire truck could not reach.

Other models such as small tractors for easy farming, smart city projects, waste management projects, anti-theft face locking bikes and among others were highly appreciated by the visitors.

Officials at the Science City said the Innotech served as a platform for students – especially the budding technocrats – to exhibit their professional acumen and many times their models were taken by technical experts to introduce them to the world, and they get the patent in return.

“The competition receives an enthusiastic response from the students and the display of projects/models developed by the students of the engineering colleges, polytechnic colleges and industrial training institutes during this tech-fest has become an eagerly awaited annual feature,” they added.

A team of judges has shortlisted more than 40 models.
