Civil engineer Jugal Kishore Sharma (68), marine engineer Rajesh Sharma (52) and a cycling professional Raj Mhatre (44) are on a mission from Wagah Border to Mumbai on their cycles to spread awareness among the masses regarding pollution-free environment.

They are also encouraging the public through their mission to adopt cycling in their daily routine to stay fit and healthy.

They started their journey on February 14 and will conclude in Mumbai on March 8 after peddling more than 2,100 km. During their journey, they will cover five states — Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Talking to The Tribune, the trio said they were trying to motivate people, especially senior citizens, to prefer cycling than vehicles to stay healthy.

Talking about their journey, Jugal Kishore Sharma said, “We usually cover 100 km in a day and spend our night in a town, where we inspire the people, especially aged people, to use cycles as much as possible in their daily routine. It prevents one from getting diseases and saves fuel expenses. It also helps in making environment pollution-free.”

“We started our journey from Wagah Border after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple, Shri Durgiana Mandir and Jallianwala Bagh. We spend our first night in Amritsar while second at Shri Devi Talab Mandir in Jalandhar and the third one in Hoshiarpur. We will resume our journey tomorrow and spend our today’s night in Phagwara.”
