Jalandhar, March 2

The Jatt Sikh Council today launched a signature campaign in favour of DU student Gurmehar Kaur.

The signatures were taken on a white cloth by residents of Jalandhar.

As per the council, Gurmehar, who lost her father in the Kargil War, said nothing wrong regarding the nation, she only said her father was not killed because of Pakistan, but due to dirty politics. The council also condemned the ABVP, the student wing of the BJP, for threatening her.

Sukhwinder Singh Lally, governing secretary of the council, said things like these were cheap and workers belonging to the ruling party in the country who were indulging in the same should be put behind bars.

He said if anybody had seen Gurmehar’s video, then they know that it was regarding peace.

“We salute the young girl. However, power-hungry politicians start commenting against that which was condemnable. The BJP should punish all those who were threatening and commenting against a girl, who lost her father for the nation,” he said.

Harpartap Singh Majail, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Harprabh Pal Singh Basra, Bhupinder Singh Bring and Bhupinder Singh Sekhon were among those others present.
