Three members of a migrant family, including a man and his two kids, were killed after a fire broke out in their shanty at Ahima Kazi village near Kartarpur last night.

The siblings died on spot, whereas their father died at the Civil Hospital in Kartarpur.

The deceased were identified as Bhola Chaudhary (56), his daughter Savitri (15) and son Ashish (7). The deceased hailed from Kharabanna village in Bihar.

As per the police, the family had been living in the shanty in the farms of Hakam Singh of the same village. The police said the incident took place at 2 am. The family had burnt a mosquito coil that possibly caused the fire, the police added.

Cops said the family’s relatives living in another shanty nearby made efforts to douse the flames, but the children could not be saved.
