Twin conferences to be held in Ludhiana

JALANDHAR: As many as 35 Sikh organisations under the Alliance of Sikh organisations will hold an International Sikh Youth Conference and Interfaith Global Summit in Ludhiana from October 19 to 20.

As many as 35 Sikh organisations under the Alliance of Sikh organisations will hold an International Sikh Youth Conference and Interfaith Global Summit in Ludhiana from October 19 to 20.

Holding a meeting on the issue in Jalandhar on Thursday Sukhdev Singh Phagwara, Parampal Singh Sabhra and Gursahib Singh Ludhiana, while speaking on the issue, said: “The events are dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev and are being held to celebrate the young Sikh achievers in various fields who will address the youth.”

They said the “International Sikh Youth Conference” shall be held at Ludhiana on October 19 from 10 am to 1 pm at the Ramgarhia Girls College Vishwakarma Chowk. During the conference Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi first Sikh MP of UK, Dr Rajwant Singh, president, Eco Sikh America, acclaimed historian Dr Sukhpreet Singh Udhoke, Kartar Singh First Sikh Lead Chaplain UK, Mandeep Kaur Sikh Chaplain to the British Armed Forces UK, Karanveer Singh Businessman Switzerland, Gagndeep Singh National Award winner Spain, among others, will share their success stories with the youth.

They said: “On October 20, a Global Interfaith Summit shall be held from 10 am to 1 pm at Manmohan Auditorium, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, in which prominent leaders and scholars of various religions shall gather and discuss the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev.”

Jathedar Akal Takht Giani Harpreet Singh, Jewish Scholar Kevin Aristide Cornelius, BK Ankita of the Nrahma Kumaris, World Spiritual University, Maulana Mohammed Umair Alasi, Chief Imam India, Nicholas Vreeland, Director of Tibetan Centre of New York and Reverend Ajeet Patrick, Secretary to Arch Bishop Delhi will participate in the summit.

Representatives of various gurdwara parbandhak committees participated in the conference and assured that youths would be offering wholehearted support to the twin initiatives. Jathedar Jagjit Singh Gaba, Tejinder Singh Pardesi, Harpal Singh Chaddha, Mandeep Singh Mitthu were present.
