A rumour went viral on social media that a leopard was seen entering BBMB DAV School in Sector 2 here from the forest area, near township. The message read that late on Tuesday night, a leopard from the nearby forest entered the school. A wildlife protection team searched the school and the area around it but found no clue about the leopard.

The message, which went viral on social media, read that a leopard has been seen entering BBMB DAV School from forest area by jumping over its boundary wall from the BBMB community centre side. It was also written in the message that the incident was witnessed by a night watchman of the school.

Principal of the school Archana said the message was a rumour as she had talked to the watchman on Tuesday night about all facts in connection with the incident. However, she has asked the watchman to be on alert and do his duty carefully after closing all doors of the school with all lights switched on.

Meanwhile, police station in-charge Bhushan Sekhri informed the DFO of the Wildlife Department, Hoshiarpur, through Forest Range Officer Daljit Kumar of Talwara. DFO Gurusharan Singh told The Tribune that after getting information in this regard he had sent a team of the Wildlife Department which conducted a search on the school campus and in the surrounding forest area on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday morning but nothing was found. He said the team had been deployed there and its members were patrolling in the area. Another team was also sent in the evening.
