How has your journey in tinsel world been so far?

I have been brought-up in a very simple environment, away from the glitz and glamour of film industry. I was in my 10th standard when I got my first offer to play a role in a movie. Since then I have been working, but I used to do limited movies. I never did movies for money or looked at it as a career option. 

Are you happy to sign this historical TV show?

I was initially very apprehensive about taking up a TV show because of the long, stretched formats and the fear of stepping out of her comfort zone, but now I am happy.

Why did you choose to play a character like Devsena?

When I was offered Aarambh, I got shocked. At first, I asked them, “From where did you get my number?” So, when I heard the role and got to know that it has been written by Vijayendra Prasad sir, I could not say no. 

How have you prepared for such a grand role?

I have worked on my dialect, body language and voice modulation etc. I have also learnt sword-fighting and how to ride an elephant. 

What is your look in the show?

Devsena is gracious and adventurous at the same time, so her costumes are customised to enhance her mobility as a warrior yet maintain the elegance of a queen. She will be seen wearing a lot of traditional Dravidian jewellery.

How much of your success would you attribute to destiny?

I think it is a lot about your destiny. I think God has a special plan for you.
