Soorma is a story inspired by a reality and director Shaad Ali tried to keep it as real as possible. He requested hockey player Sandeep Singh to help him with all his original props like trophies, medals, pictures, photo of a guru which he keeps with him, his training and playing sports kit and many more things. They wanted to shoot the way things exactly were and the props were the most powerful instruments to lend a touch of reality. The player even provided his favourite hockey sticks. The film has been shot in his hometown Shahabad. It is a lesser known fact that Sandeep Singh is one of the world’s most dangerous drag-flickers with drag speeds of over 145 km/hr which led to his nickname Flicker Singh.
