Once a genuine hater of make-up, Dr Vibha Ojas recently won a beauty pageant Diadem Mrs India Legacy 2019. Her destination next is still miles away, literally, as it is scheduled in Jamaica. Vibha would benext competing with contestants from other countries for Mrs United Nations pageant.

It all started from one post from Vibha’s friends. She says, “My friends always asked me to participate in beauty pageants but I paid no heed. Once, a friend posted my picture just to prove her point. By that night, I got a call that I was shortlisted for the competition. I realised that I have some great friends in Pooja, Jyoti and Shivani who saw it all coming.”

However, it was in her child Kavyansh, that she found her biggest supporter. “He was screaming out  my name loud when I was competing. While other family members were worried, it was my son who told everyone, ‘Mama will win this’.” Apart from her family and friends, she credits her win to Abhishek, her make-up artist. “I was not comfortable wearing make-up and anybody could read that from my face. Abhishek makeovers helped me understand the importance of make-up and how best to wear a smile too.”

For the talent round, she performed on Indo-western fusion that involved belly dancing and kathak. The entire performance earned her a standing ovation from the judges and the audience. “I trained for the entire month to become proficient in dancing. It would not be wrong to say that August was the toughest month of my life. I had to attend to my patients, perform motherly duties, tend to family responsibilities since my real brother’s engagement was scheduled in August and above all prepare for the competition.” 

Dr Vibha Ojas is a practicing doctor in Ayurveda and a fitness expert. Also, she wishes to visit transgender community with her crown so that they know that she will continue to stand for their rights as she has earlier. “I hope I will be able to create awareness about their work and rights which are given by the law but not enforced appropriately,” she signs off.
