2 held with opium, heroin

The police have nabbed two drug peddlers in separate cases and recovered heroin and opium from their possession.

In the first case, the police nabbed Satinder Singh, alias Manga, a resident of Kutbewal village in Goraya, Jalandhar. They recovered 125 grams of heroin from his possession. Apart from the contraband, the police recovered Rs 80,000 in cash, one digital weighing machine, one motorcycle, seven mobile phones and three vehicle RCs.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajveer Singh said a police party was patrolling the Bhamia Khurd road when a biker was signalled to stop for checking. The police recovered the heroin from his belongings.

During preliminary investigation, Satinder said he had been into drug peddling for a long time.

Meanwhile, the police nabbed Umarpal, alias Gautam, a resident of Kuldeep Nagar and native of Uttar Pradesh. He was arrested at a naka on the Bhamian road. The police recovered 1.5 kg of opium from his belongings.

The police said, Satinder was on the way to deliver the opium to his clients. During preliminary questioning, he told the police that he had been peddling drugs since 2014. He brought the consignment of narcotics from Jharkhand. The police said he was already facing cases of drug smuggling at the Focal Point, Moti Nagar and Model Town police stations.

The police said his police remand would be sought from the court to bust the supply line of smugglers.
