25-yr-old woman receives injuries in acid attack

Ludhiana, November 15

A 25-year-old woman identified as Pushpa Devi suffered 30 per cent injuries in an acid attack on the Tibba road here on Thursday night. Maximum injury was caused to her face in the attack.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Christian Medical College, where she is presently undergoing treatment.

Sources said a boy, whose face was covered, knocked at the door of the victim’s house and when she opened the door, he immediately poured acid on her face and fled. The girl got engaged recently and her marriage was scheduled in the coming months.

The police suspect that a jilted lover could be behind the attack. The footage of the CCTV cameras of the area is being checked by the police to identify the suspect.

Meanwhile, the girl was declared unfit for giving statement to the police.

An attempt to murder case was registered against unknown person by the police in this connection.
