Arya College athletics meet kicks off

LUDHIANA: A large number of students (boys and girls) took part in different sports disciplines, besides fun games on the opening day of the 72nd Annual Athletics Meet of Arya College, which commenced here on Monday.

Ludhiana, March 18

A large number of students (boys and girls) took part in different sports disciplines, besides fun games on the opening day of the 72nd Annual Athletics Meet of Arya College, which commenced here on Monday.

The two-day event was declared open by Rohit Mehra, Additional Commissioner, Income Tax, Ludhiana, by releasing balloons. Puja Bhargav, inspector, Income Tax, was the guest of honour on the occasion.

Principal Dr Savita Uppal welcomed the guests while Satisha Sharma, secretary, Arya College managing committee, proposed a vote of thanks.

Prof Devinder Joshi, president, college sports body, advised the students to take active part in sports, which help a person lead a healthy life.

First day results (boys)

Shot put: Aniket Arora first, Ramandeep second and Gourav Kumar third.

Discus throw: Kanav Gupta first, Preet Kunwar second and Aniket Arora third.

Results (girls)

200m race: Radha first, Kanupriya second and Diksha third.

Discus throw: Anjali first, Renu second and Aarushi third.

Shot put: Heena first, Ankita second and Anjali Kumar third.

Three-leg race: Anjali and Shelly first, Prerna and Mehak second, Ankita and Chhavi third.

Sack race: Mehak first, Kristy second and Karamjeet Kaur third.

Long jump: Anusha first and Chhavi second.
