Ludhiana, June 20

Two days after the Ludhiana Commissionerate served clean chit to police division 2 SHO Jaswinder Singh, a senior Congress leader has launched an offensive against the Commissioner of Police, RN Dhoke.

Karwal alleged that the clean chit given to the SHO and the ADCP showcased a biased approach of the police. “Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had vowed to end corruption, and by giving them a clean chit, the Ludhiana police has set a wrong precedent. Being a Congress leader, I cannot tolerate injustice with Congress worker Baljinder Singh Jandu and Kamaljot Singh Chinu. I am going to take up the matter with the CM and DGP Suresh Arora,” said Karwal.

“The SHO is the culprit in the case. On June 14, when I brought the matter to the notice of CP Dhoke, the SHO immediately reached the complainant’s office and offered full payment of the AC. The SHO also pressurised the complainant through several prominent persons. I will submit a video of the SHO who had visited the complainant’s office, where could be seen consuming non-vegetarian food and drank alcohol,” Karwal said. Why would the SHO visit the complainant’s office when an inquiry was underway, Karwal quipped.

“We demand from the Punjab DGP to probe the matter or hand over the case to an independent agency for investigation. Some police officials have also been pressurising us to settle the matter through a compromise,” said Congress worker Jindu.

Notably, after the matter came to the notice of the CP, he had asked DCP Dhruman Nimbale to conduct a probe, but the DCP did not find any evidence against the SHO to indict them in bribe case.
