Double delight for Aishveer, Gautam in table tennis

LUDHIANA: Aishveer and Gautam hogged limelight as they won two titles each in the girls’ and boys’ sections, respectively, in the Ludhiana District Table Tennis Championship that concluded at Shastri Hall near Guru Nanak Stadium here on Monday.

Aishveer and Gautam hogged limelight as they won two titles each in the girls’ and boys’ sections, respectively, in the Ludhiana District Table Tennis Championship that concluded at Shastri Hall near Guru Nanak Stadium here on Monday.

Aishveer proved her mettle by clinching titles in the youth girls’ and women’s sections whereas Gautam came out triumphant in the junior boys and youth boys’ categories.

In the youth girls’ final, Aishveer got the better of Sehajpreet Kaur 3-1 (11-8, 9-11, 11-6 and 11-9) and in the women’s final, Aishveer had to toil hard against Ishreen whom she overpowered 3-2 (11-7, 8-11, 9-11, 11-6 and 16-14) to fetch her second individual title.

Similarly, Gautam outplayed Amir 3-1 (11-6, 7-11, 11-9 and 11-8) to annex the title in the junior boys’ group and then in the youth boys’ section, he beat Vishal 3-1 (11-7, 11-9, 8-11 and 11-8) to win the title.

In the men’s section, Manpreet faced a stiff challenge from Manmeet before wrapping up the issue 3-1 (11-8, 7-11, 11-9 and 11-8) which also got him the title.

In the junior girls’ category, Sehajpreet Kaur defeated Dhriti to emerge victorious while Aishveer and Ishreen secured third and fourth position, respectively.
