Ludhiana: The Meharban police have booked a woman among four persons on the charge of attacking her daughter-in-law. They have been identified as the victim’s husband Amandeep Singh, her mother-in-law Surinder Kaur, father-in-law Anup Singh and brother-in-law Manpreet Singh, alias Mani, all residents of Gujjar Colony. The complainant, Paramjit Kaur, said on February 5, she had a scuffle with her husband over some issue. In the presence of her husband, her mother-in-law started pressing her for more dowry. Her husband and in-laws started beating her up with baseball bats and sharp weapons over the issue of dowry. TNS

Youth goes missing

Ludhiana: A 28-year-old youth has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. He has been identified as Nandu, a resident of Islam Ganj. The complainant, Bheem Raj, said his son, Nandu, had left home saying that he was going to the market and would return in an hour. But he did not return. He suspected his son was kept under wrongful confinement. The police have launched a manhunt to trace the youth. TNS

Over 50 units of blood collected  

Khanna: A blood donation camp was organised at AS College, Khanna, in memory of late Harish Chander Shastri and late Prof ID Verma on Saturday.  The camp was sponsored by Rotary Club, Khanna. Principal RS Jhanji welcomed all guests. Dr Jai Dev Chahal briefed on the importance of blood donation and encouraged students to participate. Assistant governor MR Arora also enlightened the students by highlighting the importance of blood donation and participation of youth in social services. More than 50 units of blood was donated.  A team from the Civil Hospital, Khanna, comprising Dr Harvinder Singh, staff nurse Charandeep Kaur, Jai Prakash, LT and Amandeep Singh assisted the donors.  Rotary Club president Kapil Dev Chikersal, secretary Navdeep Sharma and treasurer Brijmohan Sharma, vice-president Hemant Shastri, assistant governor MR Arora, ex-president Rajendra Arora, Ashok Negi, rotarian RC Dhingra, Anil Sooden, Dr Jaideep Chahal, Ajay Bhandari, Narinder Duggal, president college governing body Rajiv Rai Mehta and secretary Sudershan Verma were also present on the occasion.
