Sahnewal, August 11

As Punjab State Power Corporation Limited Department (PSPCL) has initiated a move to install powerful gripping wires for better sustenance and quality, the residents have begun to show their anger against the department.

Residents are complaining that the scheduled cut of Thursday, every time turns into an unscheduled one. They alleged that the supply is seldom restored in time or snapped immediately after restoration.

Charanjit Singh, a resident of Ward No-11, Sahnewal, complained that nowadays every Thursday is a scheduled cut and we know that we have to bear with the department. However, it is for the good of the consumers but the situation becomes pitiable when the timings for the restoration of supply exceed far beyond the scheduled limits.”

“Our generators and invertors go out of use as the supply which had been snapped from morning is expected to be restored by evening. But sometimes takes one, two or even three extra hours to be normalised,” was the view of another consumer.

“This is not the end of the story. The supply once restored, can be snapped any time due to exceeded load, undue pressure or some other related problems. When the consumers are already fed up by the days cut, though a scheduled one, how can they afford to bear the re-snapping and that too at late hours?” questions still another consumer.

“We have simply no objections in the department working under permissible scheduled limits but once the supply is restored it should not be snapped at any cost as the residents already have much of it to bear for the whole day,” added a resident.

Sahnewal PSPCL SDO Gurman Somal when contacted shared, “When I joined, the situation of Umaidpur feeder was simply pitiable. Not even a single day had passed when the residents were not forced to bear the snapping of power. As far as the snapping of power at odd hours is concerned, the residents may have to bear with it for some time as once the supply is restored in the evening, it has to be checked for its rated capacity, ” he added.
