Man murders wife at Machhiwara, nabbed

MACHHIWARA: A migrant woman was allegedly murdered by his husband at Zulafgarh village on Sunday.

A migrant woman was allegedly murdered by his husband at Zulafgarh village on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Geeta.

Accused Santosh escaped along with two children after the murder but was reportedly nabbed by the police in the evening. Geeta worked as a domestic help at a farmer’s residence in Zulafgarh village. Her husband, Santosh also worked with a farmer and was staying in his fields. When Geeta and her husband did not reach for work today, their employers started searching for them. When they reached the fields, they found Geeta lying on the ground and Santosh and his children missing. She was taken to Civil Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Machhiwara SHO Surinderpal and DSP Ranjit Singh Badeshan inspected the spot. The SHO said Santosh was an alcoholic and often beat his wife. He fled after killing his wife. However, he was arrested in the evening.
