Manan hits ton, Chandigarh pip host Ludhiana by five wkts

LUDHIANA: A fine century by Manan Vohra (107) and an equally valuable contribution of 58 runs by Amit Prashar steered Chandigarh to a comfortable victory by five wickets against hosts Ludhiana in a match in the ongoing Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Tournament for the FC Mittal Trophy, played at the Jathedar Santokh Singh Margind Sewa Committee, Cricket Stadium, Dulay village, near here, on Wednesday.

A fine century by Manan Vohra (107) and an equally valuable contribution of 58 runs by Amit Prashar steered Chandigarh to a comfortable victory by five wickets against hosts Ludhiana in a match in the ongoing Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Tournament for the FC Mittal Trophy, played at the Jathedar Santokh Singh Margind Sewa Committee, Cricket Stadium, Dulay village, near here, on Wednesday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Ludhiana could muster 216 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs. The main contributors were Nehal Wadhera (66), Gitansh Khera (67) and Nikhil Chaudhary (35).

The most successful bowlers for Chandigarh were Arshdeep Singh and Jagjit Singh who got rid of three batsmen each. The target set by the hosts turned out to be a small one as Chandigarh required just 36.3 overs to overhaul it. The highlight of their innings was 131 runs partnership for the opening wicket between Manan Vohra and Amit Prashar which laid the solid foundation for the visitors to achieve the target.

Manan scored ton which was studded with11 boundaries and four sixes, while Amit’s contribution consisted of two sixes and six hits over the fence.
