Max hyper sensitive polling stations in Atam Nagar

Atam Nagar constituency has maximum hyper sensitive polling stations (74), due to which the Election Commission has deployed extra security comprising paramilitary jawans and PCR teams.

Sources said nine Assembly constituencies, including East, West, South, North, Gill, Dakha, Jagraon, Central, Atam Nagar, in Ludhiana parliamentary seat has total 1,721 polling stations, of which 289 are sensitive, while 220 are hyper sensitive polling stations. The second most hyper sensitive polling stations are in Dakha (28), followed by 27 each in South, Gill respectively.

The Ludhiana Commissionerate has made elaborate security arrangements for the election day in the industrial hub. The police have sealed the city limits and intensive checking of vehicles is being conducted.

Police Commissioner Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill said over 4,500 cops, including the jawans of paramilitary forces, have already been deployed at the city’s nook and corner to maintain law and order.

Gill said 11 companies of paramilitary forces have already arrived, of which 10 are of the CRPF, while one is from Jharkhand. Gill said 36 senior police officials would be present in the city to keep a tab over anti-social elements and these officers include 10 ADCP-rank officers, 23 ACP-rank officers and two DCPs. Gill said all officers have been assigned duties accordingly and they would further coordinate with the police stations that fall in their respective zones.

Apart from these, 4500 cops have been deployed in rural constituencies such as Dakha and Jagraon.
