The BJP has called upon its cadres and functionaries of front organisations to gear up for a decisive battle against the ruling Congress in the upcoming elections to the local Municipal Corporation.

Addressing a meeting of functionaries of the Yuva Morcha, Mahila Morcha, SC, BC and Minorities Morcha here, the BJP state secretary and in charge of MC elections Vineet Joshi charged the Congress government with retarding the process of development and adopting anti-people policies. He exhorted the party workers to defeat the Congress in the civic body poll, so that the city could once again be put back on the road towards development.

District president of the party Ravinder Arora, who presided over the meeting, claimed that the Congress would have to lick defeat in the MC elections and the city would have a mayor from the SAD-BJP alliance. He said the Congress government had failed to fulfil any of its poll promises. “People from all walks of life in the state are feeling cheated,” he added.

Arora announced the nomination of Santosh Vij as general secretary of the district unit of Mahila Morcha and expressed confidence that she would work hard to motivate women in favour of the party candidates in the elections.

Among others present on the occasion were Dr Kanika Jindal, Mini Jain, Sudha Khanna, Seema Sharma, Geeta Devi, Aneeta Sharma, Manju Sikka, Kiran Dua, Renu Bansal, Veena Dogra, Pooja Rai, Aneeta Jain, Manju Midda, Meenakshi Gupta, BJP district general secretary Jatinder Mittal, Rajneesh Dhiman, media in charge Satish Kumar, Yuva Morcha president Mahesh Dutt Sharma, general secretary Tarun Jain, Arun Goel, Ravi Batra, Rajinder Khatri and Amit Sood.
