Seven booked for attacking cops

The Daba police have booked seven youngsters for attacking cops on duty in Daba.

The Daba police have booked seven youngsters for attacking cops on duty in Daba.

The cops had stopped the accused for checking when they attacked them.

The accused have been identified as Lakhvir Singh, alias Lucky, a resident of Sahibzada Fateh Singh Nagar; Balwinder Singh of Daba; Simarjit Singh and Rohit Sahota and four unidentified persons.

Complainant Head Constable Paramjit Singh said he was discharging duty near ‘Jain Da Theka’ in Daba along with other PCR cop, when around 11 pm three bike-borne were signalled to stop. “The moment we asked the bike borne to produce documents, four youths arrived. They were carrying rods and hockey sticks. They cornered us. Before we could call our seniors, they started beating us. When we raised an alarm, several area people gathered after which the accused fled,” Singh said. Later a complaint was lodged at Daba police station. IO ASI Paramjit Singh said two accused namely Lakhvir Singh and Balwinder Singh were arrested and further raids were on.
