DAV lad’s essay on perseverance bags silver in Canada

LUDHIANA: Harsimar Singh Chaggar, Class IX student at DAV, Pakhowal Road, has brought laurels to the school by securing second prize in the worldwide Open School Essay Writing and Declamation Contest held at the Century Gardens Recreation, Brampton, Canada.

Ludhiana, August 25

Harsimar Singh Chaggar, Class IX student at DAV, Pakhowal Road, has brought laurels to the school by securing second prize in the worldwide Open School Essay Writing and Declamation Contest held at the Century Gardens Recreation, Brampton, Canada.

Chaggar participated in the competition under the category of age group of 14 to 17 years and wrote his essay on “When life puts you in a tough situations, don’t say why me, say try me”. He also a won a medal and $200 cheque from Carabram’s Punjab Pavilion. In the Brampton Multicultural Festival, he participated in gatka competition and got the chance to meet Canada’s MP Sonia Sidhu, Mayor Patrick Brown, NDP President Jagmeet Singh among other prominent personalities.

He attended two workshops during his visit to Canada. The first workshop was on promoting peace and harmony among various sections of an international society and received an award of honour. He also attended a workshop on literature and community at the Mian Mir International Foundation, Canada, where he received an appreciation award in recognition of this service.

Chaggar shared his educational venture in the US and Canada and said he was fortunate to visit campuses of IT companies of Google and Salesforce. Principal Satwant Kaur Bhullar congratulated him for his big achievement.
