Ludhiana: The Special Task Force (STF) has nabbed a drug peddler and recovered 3 kg of opium and 270 gm of heroin from his possession.

Ludhiana: The Special Task Force (STF) has nabbed a drug peddler and recovered 3 kg of opium and 270 gm of heroin from his possession. The accused was identified as Harvinder Singh, alias Goggi, a resident of Lyali Kalan in Ludhiana. The STF ASI, Davinder Singh, said acting on tip off a naka was laid at Tharike Chowk. A Bolero jeep was stopped for checking at the naka. During search of the vehicle, drugs were recovered, he added. The ASI said the accused was also facing a drug case at the Haibowal police station. Even brother of the accused, identified as Jatinder, was also facing drug peddling cases in Ludhiana, he added. TNS

Four booked for illegal mining

Ludhiana: The Meharban police have seized three tractor trailers loaded with illegally mined sand in separate cases. In all three cases, the accused drivers managed to give a slip to the police. In the first case, the police booked one Ranjit Singh, a resident of Chuharwal village. When the police conducted a raid at Dheri village, the accused fled after abandoning his tractor-trailer loaded with illegal sand on the road. In another case, the police booked Krishan and Gurbhej, both residents of Karyana Khurd village for illegal mining. The duo fled when the police conducted a raid leaving their tractor-trailer behind. In yet another case, the police booked an unidentified person on the charge of illegal mining. TNS
