In what reflects the apathy of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), the authorities have again failed to rectify an error in a textbook this year.

The Tribune had highlighted the error on February 11 and Pardeep Kapoor, District Science Supervisor (DSS), had assured to rectify it.

However, teachers found that the PSEB had failed to correct the mistake in the newly published books.

Sukhdarshan Singh, a science teacher, said, “The information in the book is incorrect. The board should have reviewed the chapter after the error was reported in February. The board should revise the books before it is republished”.

It is worth mentioning that the mistake figures in the first chapter of the book, while there is no mention of photosynthesis and respiration.

Pardeep Kapoor, District Science Supervisor, said, “I have discussed the matter with the district education authorities. They have assured that the book will be revised. By the time we approached the higher authorities, the books had been published again. I will ensure that the necessary corrections are made.”
