The police has claimed to have arrested two persons in different incidents in the Khanna police district.

While giving information at a press conference here today, the Khanna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Navjot Singh Mahal, said in the first incident a police party had laid a naka at Samrala. A truck was stopped for checking at the naka. During search the police party recovered a .315 bore pistol and two live cartridges from the dash board of the truck. The driver of the truck was identified as Banarsi Dass, a resident of Pandori village, Hoshiarpur district.

The SSP said a case was registered in this regard under Section 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act against the alleged accused. He would be presented in a court for investigation, he added.

In the second incident a police party led by SHO Ashwani Kumar laid a naka at Doraha. A truck coming from the Delhi side was stopped at the naka. During checking the police party detected difference in documents of the vehicle. The truck was found to be stolen and had a forged number plate. The truck was carrying with 20 tonnes iron wire whose market value is Rs 10 lakh.

The vehicle was stolen from West Bengal and its driver was going to sell the wire to some trader. The driver of the truck was identified as Sarwan Singh, a resident of Jalah village, said the SSP. He said a case under Sections 411 and 473 had been registered against the accused and the police was enquiring into the matter.

The Khanna Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Jasvir Singh, and other officials concerned of the police district were also present at the press conference.
