Ludhiana: Ryan International School, Dugri, celebrated Universal Health Coverage Day on the school premises. This day is commemorated as the anniversary of the first unanimous United Nations resolution calling for countries to provide affordable, quality health care to every person, everywhere. A dental check-up camp for Montessori and primary students was organised as part of the celebrations. An interactive session was also organised for senior students with dentist Dr Atamjeet Singh, Secretary of Indian Dental Association. He guided students about the correct technique of brushing teeth and the right eating habits to maintain proper oral hygiene.

Powerpoint presentation

An inter-house Powerpoint Presentation was held for the students of classes VII and VIII at Green Land Sr Sec Public School, Jalandhar byepass. The students presented various PPTs on the topic –air pollution, relationship between students and teachers, harmful effects of mobile phones, do’s and don’ts in student’s life. The students described the importance of environment and ways to keep air clean and pure. Their suggestions were practical and approach was analytical. The students showed their skill by preparing PPTs highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones. The students were also successful in showing how a good relationship between a teacher and a student can help one to bloom and make ones future bright.

Folk dance show

DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, organised ‘Punjabi Folk Dance Show’ on its campus on December 12. Around 120 students participated in the event. The audience was mesmerised with the performance of the students based on the theme ‘Punjabi Folk Dance- Bhangra. The audience was fascinated with the attractive costumes, fluid dance movements absorbing props. The vivacious dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances. Principal Satwant Kaur Bhullar acknowledged the efforts put in by the students. She motivated them to participate more and more in artistic activities and enhance their skills. She said dance was the most beautiful art.

DCM students shine

Students from the DCM Presidency School performed well in badminton. Yogeshwar Narang won the first prize in the U- 14 boys doubles in the open badminton tournament and Naman Narang bagged the runners-up position in the U-11 boys’ singles open badminton tournament held at the ACE Sports Academy. School principal Nupur Nutan congratulated the winners and motivated them to keep scaling heights in the future too.

Orientation Programme at Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart Sr Sec School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, organised an orientation programme for the parents of students of classes IX to XII. The resource person was Shamina Deol, a school counselor. She enlightened the parents on “Prevention and management of mental health problems in children”. She also guided the parents to help children become mentally healthy, happy and able to realise their potential. Principal Rev Sr Silvi appreciated the resource person and told the parents to develop an understanding of the whole field of mental health so that they could provide proper direction and guidance to their children.

Students perform

Athletes of Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur, participated in Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex (West) Athletic Championship held at St Kabir Academy, Talwandi (2017-18) and performed well. Students made their mark in several sporting events including shot put, relay race, 200m, 600m, discus throw, 100m, 800 m, long jump, race in different age group categories. — TNS
