Ludhiana, September 20

Blaming Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Agrawal for failing to meet the demands raised by the Hindu Sikh Jagrati Sena in favour of the families of the two boys who died in a road accident at Jodhewal recently, one of the deceased’s friends on Thursday shaved his head in front of the DC office.

The protesters raised slogans against the DC and warned that if the district administration did not meet their demands, they would intensify their protest against the administration.

Parveen Dang, president of the Hindu Sikh Jagrati Sena, led the protest. He said when two minor boys, namely Parshotam and Jagdish, were crushed to death by a mini truck near Jodhewal Chowk, the Jagrati Sena had given a memorandum to the DC in favour of the kin of the deceased boys. The DC was warned that if demands were not met, they would shave their heads in front of his office.

As the DC has failed to meet their demands, the deceased’s friend Sooraj Kumar shaved his head to lodge his protest against the DC. He said the administration had failed to provide free treatment to the injured boy who was undergoing treatment at a hospital.

If the administration did not meet their demands, women would also shave their heads in front of the DC office, he said.

Dang said people were facing a huge inconvenience due to the ongoing work at bridges. Most roads have become accident prone. But, the NHAI was not much bothered about easing this traffic mess. He advocated transferring bridge work to military. He demanded that one day receipts at the toll barrier should be given to the accident victims’ families.

He also demanded that a murder case be slapped on the truck driver.
