The police today claimed to have solved the murder of a local resident with the arrest of three persons, including the deceased’s wife. She allegedly had illicit relations with a murder suspect.

Addressing the media, SSP-Khanna Navjot Singh Mahal said the body of Kuldeep Singh, alias Babbu, a resident of Kalalmajra village and at present residing at Model Town here, was found in a pond of Majra village on January 12. The police had registered a case under Section 302 and 201 of the IPC against unidentified persons as the body bore a number of wounds.

The SSP said a special investigation team(SIT), comprising DSP (I)-Khanna Ranjit Singh, Inspector Baljinder Singh, Inspector Ajitpal Singh, in-charge of the CIA, and Sadar SHO Venod Kumar, was formed. The team came to know about illicit relations of Harpreet Kaur, wife of the deceased, with Charanpreet Singh, a resident of Model Town, Khanna. On the night of January 11, Kuldeep came to his house in a drunken state and his wife mixed some tablets in his dinner. Kuldeep fell asleep soon after having his dinner. His wife called Charanpreet, who, along with his friend Pawandeep Singh, a resident of Boothgrah village, arrived at the house. The three strangled Kuldeep with an iron wire. Later, Charanpreet and Pawandeep tied the body to the deceased’s bike and dragged it to the nearby village of Majra. They threw the body into the village pond.

The SSP said the three accused had confessed to their crime and they would be presented before a court.

The Khanna district police had solved 11 blind murders in the past 10 months. The officials and police personnel involved in solving these murder cases will be rewarded, Mahal added.
