7 killed as fire breaks out in Bihar''s Gopalganj district

PATNA: At least seven people were burnt to death and two others received severe injuries when a fire was suddenly caught in a house in Bihar’s Gopalganj district late Thursday night.

At least seven people were burnt to death and two others received severe injuries when a fire broke out in a house in Bihar’s Gopalganj district on Thursday night.

The injured were rushed to a hospital in Gopalganj. 

The incident occurred at Bakhari village falling under Kuchaikot police station district.

The police reached the spot to investigate the matter on how the house caught fire that reduced to ashes. 

The exact reason of the fire was yet to be ascertained by the police. 

Electric short-circuit might be one of the reason, but the veracity of the incident could only be revealed by the probe.

Gopalganj district magistrate Animesh Kumar Prashar said: “Seven people, including a child, was killed when the fire caught in a house at Bakhari village of the district on Thursday night. The reason of the fire is yet to be probed. Prima-facie it appeared that electric short-circuit might be the reason but probe is on to ascertain the reason of massive fire that engulfed seven lives”.

As per the normal course of law, disaster management department, the compensation would be given to the next kin of the deceased, but it was yet to be announced by the district magistrate, said an official of police department. 

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

Amin Mian, resident of village, said that the villagers were unable to save seven lives as the fire was so massive that everyone appeared to be helpless.
