Commission Chairman Jasbeer Singh on Friday held separate meetings with the victims, six suspects and Ajmer police at the secretariat over the incident that is believed to have occurred at Ajmer’s Chainpura village on April 24

Singh claimed he asked police to investigate the case on priority and report to him regularly. He also said he would submit a report over the case if needed.

The incident came to the fore after an undated video of a mob beating up four sewadars of a gurdwara after having taken them for thieves or kidnappers went viral on May 25. The victims had gone to the village seeking donations.

Village sarpanch Ramdev Singh, and others identified as Shravan Singh Rawat, Raju Singh Rawat, Bhanwar Singh Rawat, Manna Singh Rawat and Vijay Singh Rawat were booked under sections 295A and 298 (hurting religious sentiments) among other sections of the Indian Penal Code. The village sarpanch has been arrested.
