British MP denied entry into India

NEW DELHI: Lord Alexander Carlile, British lawyer of Bangladesh’s jailed opposition leader Khaleda Zia, was on Wednesday denied entry into India for not having appropriate visa.

New Delhi, July 11

Lord Alexander Carlile, British lawyer of Bangladesh’s jailed opposition leader Khaleda Zia, was on Wednesday denied entry into India for not having appropriate visa.

The lawyer had scheduled a press meet in Delhi among other engagements. MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar said: “Carlile arrived in Delhi without having obtained the appropriate Indian visa. His intended activity in India was incompatible with the purpose of his visit as mentioned in his visa application. It was, therefore, decided to deny him entry into India upon arrival.” — TNS
