The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Tuesday amid protests by parties on various issues, including Rafale.

The Congress raised the Rafale issue and some party members displayed placards demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the fighter jet deal.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge who continued to press for a Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Rafale fighter jet deal issue said: "All had been said on the issue during the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the last session."

Many members from the BJP shouted slogans against the Congress and demanded an apology from Congress President Rahul Gandhi on the Rafale issue.

The AIADMK members were protesting against construction of a dam across Cauvery river while those from the TDP were demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh.

In the morning, the Speaker had adjourned the House till noon due to protests by parties.

Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar again reiterated that the government was ready on all issues, striking down the demand for teh JPC.

Mahajan, who earlier tried to bring peace to the  prevailing chaos in the House, also reminded the members of thier duties as Parliamentarians

"The Parliament was a place for discussion and debate. The country is going to polls soon and who has done what scam will be decided by people," she said.

Mahajan said she was getting calls from abroad about the situation in the Parliament. "Often I am asked how the school (Parliament) is functioning," she said, referring to the behaviour of MPs as school children.

“The JPC is not in my hands but I can assure that the government is ready for discussion on all issues,” she added.
