On b’day, PM to see Narmada dam overflow

Ahmedabad: For the first time in the history of Gujarat, the Sardar Sarovar Dam, the state’s ‘lifeline’, on the Narmada has reached the full reservoir level of 138.68 m on Sunday. The state will celebrate the milestone on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on Tuesday. Modi is due to pay a day’s visit to his home state on his birthday to seek blessings of his mother Hiraba who lived in Gandhinagar. He will also visit  the Kevadiya Colony to see the overflowing dam and “worship Goddess Narmada.”OC

Rajnath condoles death of canine soldier ‘Dutch’

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday condoled the death of Army’s “canine soldier” Dutch, credited with successfully sniffing out explosives during several military operations. “Dutch was a decorated dog of #EasternCommand who was instrumental in identifying IEDs in various CI/CT Ops (sic),” tweeted the Office of Defence Minister. Nine-year-old Dutch, a labrador, died due to natural causes on September 11 and the memorial service was held at the Tezpur-based 19 Army Dog Unit in Assam. PTI

Low-fat meals for ‘healthier’ Air India crew   

New Delhi: The Air India has revised its menu for flight crew and is now providing them 'special low-fat diet meals', which include dishes such as Saute Spinach, Beetroot Ki Tikki, Palak Matar Bhurji, Tinda Masala and Dal Malka Masoor, so as to improve their health. The changes in the menu as of yet were made only on the flights operating from Delhi and Mumbai. These are applicable from September 15 midnight.  PTI
