Days after the dastardly Pulwama terror strike claimed lives of 40 CRPF jawans, police forces and various state administrations are trying to ensure safety of Kashmiri people, including students outside the state being targeted reportedly by angry mobs.

Edit: Unequivocal message

This, even as attempts are being made to bust fake communal videos and divisive news circulating online and through chat applications like Whatsapp.

Earlier on Saturday the Ministry of Home Affairs issued an advisory to all states and Union Territories to ensure safety and security of residents of Jammu and Kashmir following media reports of their intimidation and harassment in wake of the terror strike. The CRPF which lost its brave hearts itself took to twitter to reach out to those distressed. "#Kashmiri students and general public, presently out of #kashmir can contact @CRPFmadadgaar on 24x7 toll free number 14411 or SMS us at 7082814411 for speedy assistance in case they face any difficulties/ harrasment," tweeted the force from the CRPF Madadgaar handle, its 24x7 helpline.

CRPF also cautioned on social media that 'some miscreants are trying to circulate fake pictures of body parts of our Martyrs to invoke hatred while we stand united'.

'Please DO NOT circulate/share/like such photographs or posts. Report such content at [email protected]," added the CRPF advisory.

Meanwhile, police officials in the National Capital Region claimed steps were being taken to be vigilant towards any such attempt at mob harassment of Kashmiris or minorities. Madhur Verma, DCP, New Delhi district wrote on twitter, "Security has been strengthened all across the National Capital, including minority dominated areas. Visibility of police personnel has been increased. We'll ensure the safety and security of every citizen including Kashmiri inhabitants and students living in Delhi."

Speaking at en event in Mohali earlier today, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh also ensured protection to all Kashmiri students in the state if needed. "They have nothing to do with the Pulwama attack," he added.

Political leaders of Kashmir to several prominent citizens have also been appealing through social media to maintain calm and not let divisive forces help terror groups by creating an atmosphere of fear.

However Ashok Kumar, ADG (Law&Order) in Uttarakhand denied incident of Kashmiri students 'being trapped in a girls hostel' as a 'rumour'. "It is told that girls from the hostel chanted 'Pakistan zindabad'. We don't have any proof regarding this. Police got this information, we immediately intervened in the matter and sorted it out," Kumar told news agencies.
