Congress appointed Subhash Chopra as president of Delhi Congress on Wednesday.

The position has been vacant since the previous Delhi Congress president Sheila Dikshit died in July this year.

The appointment comes as Delhi gets into election mode. Assembly elections for Delhi are due early next year.

The development is especially crucial since Congress lost all seven parliamentary seats to the Bharatiya Janata Party in the general elections in May.
