Four months after the Indian Air Force hit at terror camps in Balakot, it now emerges that Pakistan had upped the ante along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and indulged in large-scale ceasefire violations.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, gave figures that showing how the number of ceasefire violations went up in March April and May and then tapered off in June.

“Appropriate retaliation to ceasefire violations has been carried out by the Army,” Rajnath Singh said.

Also all violations of ceasefire and infiltration are taken up with Pakistan authorities at the appropriate level through established mechanism of hotlines, flag meeting, Directorate Generals of Military Operations talks as well as diplomatic channels between the two countries, the reply of the minister said.

The question had been asked by Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, who had asked whether there was a sharp increase in the number of cases of violations of ceasefire on the LoC by Pakistan.
