AAP forms panel to pacify rebels

CHANDIGARH: The AAP core committee on Tuesday formed a five-member panel to reach out to dissenting MPs and MLAs and sort out differences with them.

Chandigarh, October 16

The AAP core committee on Tuesday formed a five-member panel to reach out to dissenting MPs and MLAs and sort out differences with them. Sarabjit Kaur Manuke will head the committee, whose other members are Bhagwant Mann, Meet Hayer, Rupinder Kaur Ruby and Kulwant Singh Pandori.

On the other hand, the rebel faction, led by Sukhpal Khaira, claimed that no one from the party approached them. It announced to form its own district units by October 24. At a press meet, Khaira said a previously formed committee would finalise the postings.

The core committee lauded Dakha MLA HS Phoolka for resigning from his seat in protest against the sacrilege cases and the Congress government’s failure in taking action against those named by the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report.

Party media incharge Manjit Singh Sidhu said the process for selection of Lok Sabha candidates had been started and the names would be announced by the end of next month. The core committee also decided to launch an agitation against power tariff hike.

Meanwhile, a delegation of party MLAs met Governor VP Singh Badnore regarding the demands of 8,886 teachers seeking regular jobs on full pay scale. — TNS
