Barnala, December 12

The police today added provisions of the Information Technology Act in the case of assault on Istri Wing leader of the SAD Jaswinder Kaur.

A “Shera Khuban Aale” gang has announced on FB to avenge the attack on her.

Members of the CPI(ML) and Mazdoor Mukti Morcha (MMM) today protested in front of the DC’s office and burnt an effigy of the Punjab Police for not taking quick action against the accused in the case. Protesters alleged that had the police taken timely action to arrest the accused, the uploading of video could have been prevented.

“The police must arrest all accused to prevent any further threats to her,” demanded Makhan Singh of the MMM. Apart from adding Section 307 of the IPC, Section 295-A of the SC, ST Act last evening, today the police added Section 67-A of the IT Act. “We have added more sections as per the demand of the victim,” said Kuldeep Singh Virk, DSP (Investigations), who is heading a three-member Special Investigation team (SIT) formed two days back.

In their post uploaded on December 10 midnight, persons under the name of Shera Khuba Aale have threatened to avenge the insult of Jaswinder Kaur. After the attack on her, the Barnala police had registered a case under Sections 324, 354-B, 355, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC against eight persons, but allegedly did not take required action against the accused and it led to the uploading of video clips of her attack on social media.

Book Khaira: SAD

Chandigarh: In a statement, SAD senior vice-president Daljit Singh Cheema on Tuesday demanded registration of a criminal case against Leader of the Opposition Sukhpal Khaira for casting aspersions on the character of Barnala brutality victim Jaswinder Kaur. “There can be no excuse for such an insensitive remark by Khaira. He must be proceeded against immediately as per law,” he said. TNS
