Punjab Police on Monday claimed to have solved a blind murder case and found the involvement of Bambiha gang behind the killing of a coal merchant and arrested four people allegedly involved in the incident.

Gurdev Singh (52) was killed in broad daylight on March 11 at Muktsar. During investigation, it was found that the coal merchant was killed as the accused wanted to rob him of his vehicle, IGP Intelligence (Organised Crime Control Unit) Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh said.

The Organised Crime Control Unit (OCCU) team found the involvement of ‘Bambiha’ gang in this case and said that one member of this gang Ajay Faridkotia was intensively questioned who confessed to his involvement in the crime and named other accused in it, a police official said.

The other accused have been identified as Amna Jaito, Amritpal Baba, Rakesh Kaku and Komaljit Singh.

The IG said that Ajay Faridkotia, involved in over two dozen cases of serious nature, was arrested sometime back in Moga.

Aman Jaito was brought on production warrant who was already arrested by a team of OCCU. Thereafter, Amritpal Baba and Rakesh Kaku were also arrested.

The weapon used in committing the crime was recovered from the accused, the IG said. — PTI
