Candidates rue delay in counselling

FARIDKOT: The delay in counselling for admission to MD/MS (postgraduate) courses in seven medical colleges in the state has led to resentment among aspirants since the first round of centralised counselling has already begun.

Faridkot, March 26

The delay in counselling for admission to MD/MS (postgraduate) courses in seven medical colleges in the state has led to resentment among aspirants since the first round of centralised counselling has already begun.

The DMER is yet to take a decision on the matter owing to a controversy over fee structure of Adesh Medical University (24 seats) and the SGPC-run Sri Guru Ram Das Medical College (79 seats).

While the second round of centralised counselling will be held from April 5 to 9, aspirants for the PG seats in Punjab (MBBS graduates) fear that the delay will harm their interests as it will cut short the available options to high-ranking students.

Some students today reached the DMER office, demanding the early start of counselling. Satish Chandra, Secretary, DMER, said the notification file had been sent to the CMO and they were hopeful of notifying the details in the next two days. —TNS
