Jalandhar, April 22
Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh on Monday visited former Jalandhar Member of Parliament MS Kaypee at his residence in Model Town.
Party’s prominent Dalit face, Kaypee, a former Punjab minister and ex-PPCC chief, had been sulking since the party denied him ticket from Jalandhar. He had floated the idea of a Congress Taksali Front with other disgruntled Dalit leaders. He had even planned to contest the Lok Sabha poll as an Independent.
Kaypee said many senior leaders, including minister Sukhjinder Randhawa and Raj Kumar Verka, had played a key role in bringing him back to the party fold. He said he had also assured to work for the party in all 13 Lok Sabha seats without any pre-conditions.
Later, Capt Amarinder and Kaypee accompanied Jalandhar sitting MP and Congress candidate Santokh Singh Chaudhary for filing his nomination papers.
