Petrol pump to be run by inmates and prison staff to open at Patiala jail

CHANDIGARH/ PATIALA: The first-ever petrol pump to be run by inmates and jail staff will open at the Central Jail in Patiala. The Jails Minister signed an MoU with the IOC.

Chandigarh/Patiala, June 3

The first-ever petrol pump to be run by inmates and jail staff will open at the Central Jail in Patiala.

Jails Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa and ADGP-Jails Rohit Chowdhry signed an MoU with the Indian Oil Company at Patiala on Monday morning.

The pump will employ inmates with a good conduct record at the pump. The department also aims to raise revenue generation.

The minister also presided over a passing-out parade of 246 jail workers, including 51 women workers.

The minister announced Rs 5 lakh from his discretionary fund for the jail training school.
