The Federation of Self-Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI) and Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) have demanded that the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) should extend the last date of admissions to technical courses from August 15 to September 15 for the students of Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir and Nepal.

Dr Anshu Kataria, president, FSFTI and PUCA, while explaining the matter, said due to the ban on Internet/mobile connection and curfew in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of the Article 370, thousands of students of the valley couldn’t approach the colleges for the admissions in this session yet.

Amit Sharma, senior vice-president, PUCA, said on August 5 the Patna HC gave stay orders on the Bihar government’s notification dated July 5 and July 16 regarding student credit card scheme stating the credit card benefitted only NAAC grade “A” NBA-accredited and NIRF-ranked institutions. Due to this there was confusion regarding admissions for a month. — TNS
